Who are 4KIDS of South Florida?

Often we think of orphans as children who live in third world countries, those whose images we see on television or in the newspaper. But they’re not just around the globe, they’re also right here in our own backyard. On any given day in South Florida, there are three to four thousand “temporary orphans” in foster care.
Imagine how children must feel when they’re removed from their homes, often with nothing more than the clothes on their back and a garbage bag filled with whatever they were able to quickly pack. These children are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity and showered with love. So whether it’s a child who is a victim of abuse or neglect, a teenager rejected by his family, or a young girl who is pregnant and alone, from the moment they come into our care, we provide support, encouragement, and direction.

4KIDS of South Florida recently had a charity fund raiser "BiG Cardio Class and 5K".  This was a fantastically successful event attended by over 800 people! There was a 5K run, BiG Cardio Workout hosted by Joyce Feldman, Boot Camp workout by Trent Gamble, Kid Fit class with Brian Fuery, tug-of-war, hip hop street dancers, Eric McDuffie sharing his insight into health and fitness, Atemi-Ryu Martial Arts demonstration, Ramp 48+ skateboarding, Florida Panthers street hockey, bounce houses and face painting for the kids and much, much more!

The 5K run was quite impressive. Almir Junior was the overall male winner with a winning time of 18:44.4 and Trish Butler was the overall female winner with a time of 18:53.1.  Congratulations to both victors!

All photographs from the days event are available to view and/or purchase at the link below. Peruse and look at hundreds of highlights from the day. Additionally, there are pictures available to purchase for most of the runners from the finish line.  Due to the volume of individuals running we captured photos of about 80% who crossed the finish line.  To find your image, simply click on the link below, log in with your email address and look in the "5K Run" category. You can scan forward through the images to find your photo, your friends and your family members. Simply click on "add to cart" to purchase. The event was spectacular!! This was my first 5K and I had no idea what to expect - it far succeeded my expectations!!! The photographer was amazing - his pics came out so clear and he did a wonderful job at seizing those "in the moment" shots. Thanks so much for capturing this memory for us !!

That day was one of those events you really wanted to remember and capture in pictures and Curtis did just that. That was such a special day for for many people and for so many different reasons. Having so many friends and family all in one place and doing something for such a good cause was so much fun. I can't wait until next year. We may need a larger park. Thank you to Joyce Feldman for having the dream to pull this off with such success. Thank you to all the people that volunteered their time to make everything run so smoothly and thank you to Curtis for being in all the right places at the right time. The pictures are wonderful. Most of all thank you to our King for the beautiful sunrise and perfect weather.
